The One With 4G

After it was unveiled abroad last year, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7 is headed to Verizon Wireless with 4G LTE. It’s a skinny little tablet, measuring about 0.31 in., with a gorgeous 1280-by-800 resolution Super AMOLED Plus display. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing or release date, or whether you’ll have sign a contract with Verizon. Let’s hope for a wi-fi version before this tablet’s specs get outdated.

The Bargain

When it comes to technical specs, ViewSonic’s ViewPad e70 is about as unsophisticated as it gets, with a 7-in. 800-by-480 display, a 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM and a VGA front-facing camera. But at $169, it could be a respectable Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablet, with Amazon’s Appstore and services on board (no Google services are preloaded). Look for it at the end of March.

The Surprisingly Powerful One

The Asus MeMO 370T, at $249,  is priced like a budget tablet, yet it comes with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a 1280-by-800 resolution IPS display and 1 GB of RAM. A prototype was running smooth as can be, with Android Ice Cream Sandwich on board from day one. This tablet’s second quarter launch can’t come soon enough.
